Nicky Sandhu-Wall
Nicky has over 20 years’ experience as a strategic and commercial HR leader, with a proven track record of guiding organisations through periods of complex change. Throughout her career, she has supported HR, benefits, and payroll teams through technological, compliance, cultural, and structural transformations — ensuring teams remain engaged while maintaining high-quality, day-to-day services aligned with business goals. She has also led the implementation of benefits, recognition, and reward initiatives designed to engage and motivate employees.
Through this work, Nicky saw first-hand how traditional employee benefits often fail to support people through periods of real financial hardship. Driven by the belief that change works best when people feel supported and valued, she founded Givicle to turn those insights into action. Her focus remains on turning complexity into clarity and creating practical, compassionate solutions that genuinely improve employee experience, wellbeing, and fairness in the workplace.
Nicky’s story
Nicky and her three sisters grew up in inner city Birmingham, raised by their mother, the family’s sole provider, who worked tirelessly to support them. Money was always tight, but despite financial hardship, their home was filled with kindness, resilience, and determination. Her mother instilled a strong work ethic and a deep sense of empathy, values that continue to guide Nicky today.
Nicky still remembers the small acts of kindness she received during those difficult times. Quiet reminders that she was valued and supported by her community. These moments shaped her outlook and reinforced the importance of compassion and dignity.
As she built her career in HR, Nicky stayed true to those values, progressing by being authentic, practical, and unafraid to challenge systems that didn’t feel right. Moving into senior leadership roles, she became increasingly aware of widening pay disparities across sectors and the real impact this had on people working hard but still struggling.
During her career, Nicky became increasingly aware that many people across organisations were quietly struggling financially, even while working hard and caring deeply about their roles. Dedicated employees at all levels were giving everything they could, yet still finding it difficult at times to meet basic needs. Often, these challenges remained unseen, with people putting on a brave face at work while managing stress and uncertainty behind the scenes.
This inequality weighed heavily on Nicky, not just professionally, but personally. When she could not find a solution that aligned with her values and vision, she decided to create one herself. By combining her passion for helping others with her experience in HR, Nicky found her purpose: to address financial inequality and encourage a culture of generosity for those who need it most.
This is why she founded Givicle, a platform designed to make generosity accessible, inspire empathy, spread kindness, and promote fairer opportunities for working people everywhere.
